In a recent move that has garnered considerable attention, former US President Donald Trump has proposed a plan to prevent US states from regulating Artificial Intelligence (AI). The plan, which intends to centralize AI regulation at a federal level, has drawn criticism from several quarters, and now Microsoftâs Chief Scientist, Eric Horvitz, has joined the dialogue.
“AI regulation needs to reflect the subtleties of differing regions and cultures, and imposing a blanket ban on state regulation could stymie the development of nuanced and effective regulation”, said Horvitz.
