Renowned Artificial Intelligence (AI) pioneer, Yann LeCun has issued a stark warning to the technology community. LeCun, pioneer in machine learning, neural networks, computer vision, mobile robotics, and computational neuroscience, has said the industry could be heading towards a ‘dead end’ if current trends continue unstymied.
The professor, chiefly known for his work on OCR, convnets, and AI at New York University and Facebook, raised concerns over the frenetic pace of AI development. LeCun warns that too many AI companies are focusing on short-term gains without considering the long-term implications of their work.
