In an innovative attempt to navigate the complex realm of fact-checking, we turned to artificial intelligence (AI). Using five separate AI models, we set out to fact-check the statements of former U.S. President Donald Trump.

What emerged from the data was enlightening. The AI models, each with their own structures and algorithms, performed impressively, with a notable level of concord in their results. Most claims were labelled either true or false, with a scant few falling into the ‘partially true’ category.

Clearly, AI has the potential to dramatically assist human fact-checkers. It’s not perfect – there will always be grey areas that only human judgment can truly understand.
